A very nice bronze relief plaque of the Virgin Mary by Lucien Gibert (1904-1988). He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under masters like Aristide Maillol and Charles Despiau. His work is held in high regard for his mastery of various materials, including bronze, wood and stone. He produced numerous public commissions including for the Monnaie de Paris (French Mint) of which he later became a director. Signed with artist's name to bottom right, a lovely decorative piece.
