A beautiful circa 1900 collection of 9 expertly hand painted and turned skittle characters consisting of 1 male and 8 females. Each dressed in the ‘Boyar’ style known for rich fabrics & deep colors that immediately commanded respect and highlighted the noble rank of the wearer. The term 'boyar' refers to a high-ranking medieval Eastern European noble class, this set possibly Russian or Bulgarian. An incredibly decorative and extremely rare group with incredible detailing and super vibrant colouring. The tallest figure is the male standing at 24cm. Sold as a set of 9 pieces.
